Sago Palm - Cycas Revoluta

INTRODUCTION

The Sago Palm is actually a popular plant that resembles a plam tree, but is actually a cycad. The trunk of the Sago Palm can grow upwards of 10-12 feet high, but requires a very long time to reach full-growth, typically up to 50-years. The leaves of the Sago Palm are usually four to five feet in length, and nine inches wide. The Sago Palm prefers a high rainfall, warm weather climate, but requires fast draining soil.

 

Sago Palms thrive in both full sun and full shade, the Sago Palm is wonderful as a shrub barrier, in rock gardens, and even as a subject for bonsai.
